Any die hard Trews fan knows that long time drummer (and cousin to brothers Colin and John-Angus MacDonald) hasn’t been behind the kit since last fall. The Trews released a statement today on their website; a message from Sean and from remaining band members Colin, John-Angus, and Jack Syperek. In part it said:
Well what can I say folks its been an amazing run. The years playing with the Trews have been best years of my life…. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I’ve decided to step down from the drum throne. Nothing weird goin’ on here folks…just time to do what’s best for me and the family…. “
The band goes on to add their own bit, and introduce the ‘new guy’ Gavin Maguire:
“Sean was an integral part of the band over the past 14 years. Together we’ve written many songs and played many shows all over the world… Moving forward we will carry on with the very excellent Gavin Maguire behind the kit….”

Our very best wishes to Sean Dalton in the next phase of his life – we enjoyed his energy and showmanship on stage and it was great to have the chance to get to know him over the years through interviews and concerts. Our utmost respect to the band for letting fans know what’s going on (so many bands don’t!), and for introducing Gavin Maguire to fans. Maguire has big shoes to fill but we’ve seen him live twice and he’s top notch. Looking forward to more Trews shows in the future!
