This is me

lets dance donna mairCreativity is the core of my being; it drives me to perfection, dictates my hobbies, pushed me into my job choices, and won’t leave me alone at night long enough to fall asleep at a decent hour! I’m a photographer, an artist, a bad musician, a writer, a web creator, a knitter, and more. I’m always dabbling in something new just to try it out, but my main passions are photography, music and writing, and I currently  combine all three as a freelance writer/photo journalist for myself, and for a variety of  online Rock magazines including, Rockstar Weekly and Raised on Indie  among others.

 My current favorite bands/music include:

 * U2 (always and forever U2)
 *State of Shock – in the same vein as most new rock bands, but they have style and  charm, as well as a good head on their collective shoulders – and no egos.
 *Sam Roberts Band – once was all it took for me to be hooked on these guys in a live  setting.. the albums have grown on me with my favorite being their newest, Collider.
 *The Trews – basic down to earth musicians who just love what they do. Their newest  album, Hope and Ruin, hooked me from the get-go and hasnt let go yet.
 *Shinedown – saw them last year. I follow them on Twitter and FB and the more I see  and read, the more I like and respect these guys not just for the music but for the  truth behind it and the way they live their lives
 *Collective Soul – It took me forever to ‘discover’ these guys but since then I’ve kept  up with each new album/tour they put out. Currently doing solo projects that hold  promise!
 *Pete Levin -the only Jazz I love so far

I’m always on the look out for new stuff that moves me; moves me enough to make  me want to buy it and play it often. My friend Ryan Hoyle says this about music:

 “I’m constantly buying records, which I love. I would feel strange if I didn’t. I’d feel  left out, or something. There’s good music out there – you just have to open yourself up to it and invite it in, and it’ll show  up. That’s what I do.”

 I’m trying, my friend, I’m trying. And it’s showing up.
