The Glorious Sons Kick ass at Big Music Fest
written by Orest Dorosh
To parapharse a great rock and roll quote, “I have seen Canadian Rock and Roll future and it’s name is The Glorious Sons.” Exuding the energy of Axel Rose and the grunge sensiblities of Kurt Cobain, The Glorious Sons frontman Brett Emmons and band rolled into Kitchener’s Big Music Fest on the weekend and took the crowd by storm.
People were once attracted to Rock n Roll because of its Power, its Purity, its Sex and swagger. More recently though, it seems such criteria is overshadowed by ‘catchiness’ or production value. But not with the The Glorious Sons.
As soon as Brett Emmons stepped on stage, he started twisting and whipping his long hair as he drove the crowd into a frenzied party. Their hour long set consisted of most of their album, ‘The Union’, and if you do not have this album yet do yourself a favour and pick it up as quickly as you can – you won’t regret it!
For still a relatively unknown band it seemed the audience knew every note and every song that the band played. I had heard about how infectious their live performances can be, but I am always skepitcal about new bands. But I left wanting to hear more and wondering when they will be playing next! This band does not telephone-in their performances! From start to finish it is 150% pure Rock n Roll energy.
One can only expect great things from this Kingston based band in the near future. Check them out here:
