Sad news we just saw Shinedown guitarist Zach Myers post on his Twitter and Facebook page, confirmed by Dave Navarro and confirmed by Scott’s tour manager. Scott Weiland was found unresponsive on his tour bus, and is confirmed to have passed away at the age of 48. Weiland was on tour with his band Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts, with dates planned for later this month.
Despite his long battle with addiction, no one could dispute Weiland’s mark on music. Whether performing with Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver, or with his own band, the man was a live wire on stage with an amazing stage presence and incredible easily recognizable voice and style. We were fortunate enough to see Weiland perform with Stone Temple Pilots in 2009 in Kamloops and it was one of those shows that will stand in our memory always.
