Jeff Martin of The Tea Party brings solo tour to Canada with 3 BC dates
A critically acclaimed guitarist, singer and songwriter, Jeff Martin, is an enigmatic artist that transcends typical musical genres. Since forming The Tea Party in 1990, Martin produced all of The Tea Party’s albums, including their debut album in 1991. The Tea Party recorded eight albums on EMI Music, selling almost 4 million records worldwide, won multiple awards and achieved a No. 1 Canadian single with “Heaven Coming Down” in 1999.
Jeff Martin is about to embark on a solo tour, with stops in Yukon, three BC dates and then on to Toronto. We asked Jeff if he’s nervous about not having the rest of the band behind him on this tour.
“No, not really. I’ve been performing for so many years with The Tea Party and I love Canada, so I’m really looking forward to getting out and playing, and seeing familiar faces and old friends. It’s not an acoustic show per se, but almost. I’ll be bringing my guitars and any other instruments I can pack with me; Lvd, and possibly the herdy gerdy so I’ll be making a lot of music up there for one guy. ”
Jeff will be performing songs from his unreleased EP Stars in the Sand, which will ONLY be available for purchase at the shows. The reception so far (with his Australian leg of the tour) has been positive. Says Jeff,
“The songs were inspired by my travel to Morocco and by many of the musicians I met there. The album artwork is really amazing too. I really wanted people to be able to touch and feel this and dive into the artwork as well as the music. The sound of the 5 songs will be familiar to anyone who is a Tea Party fan, and I’m looking forward to people hearing it, both live and on the album.”
Tickets for Jeff Martin’s solo tour are selling fast! Vancouver is the first stop where Jeff is playing The Imperial, then more BC dates including Yukon. We asked Jeff if he gets ‘out and about’ the various towns, while touring.
“I like to get out and see the sights of a town whenever possible, yes. Its going to be ‘hit the ground running’ in BC, but then I’m off to the Yukon and will have some time off before Toronto’s dates. This will be my first time visiting the Yukon! I’m looking forward to it, and to seeing BC and Canada in the autumn, with the colors and season change.”
Jeff also let us in on a tidbit of info for Tea Party fans – look for The Tea Party shows in December (Toronto), as well as new music in 2019! (and a Canadian tour to follow)
