Primus bring tribute to Canadian Icons to Orpheum Vancouver

It’s not often a musical trio from the US comes to Canada with a tribute set dedicated to a musical trio of Canadian icons. But Primus isn’t known for doing much that is normal.

So ergo, they will be playing not just tracks from “A Farewell to Kings”, the 1977 release by RUSH, they will be performing the ENTIRE ALBUM. Given the retirement of the Canadian trio and passing of drummer Neil Peart, fans of the boys from Willowdale are indeed excited. In fact, Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee themselves attended the recent stop at Massey Hall in Toronto, showing their support.

“Geddy, Alex and Neil had been superheroes to Larry, Herb and I in our teens,” Claypool recalled, “so when we all became pals while touring together in the early ’90s, we were pretty delighted; partially because of the musical geek-out factor but mostly because the three guys whom we had admired so much from afar, turned out to be truly great, down-to-earth humans, and like us, a tad eccentric.” – spin.com

But if that isn’t enough, expect a solid first set of Primus songs covering their extensive catalog and tracks off their latest EP, Conspiranoid.

So get set for a night where Primus and Rush fans come together to slap their air-basses and enjoy long lines to the men’s washroom. Who knows, there may be a rare sighting of female fans!

MRG Live presents

“Primus A Tribute to Kings”

Primus is paying homage to prog-rock legends Rush with A Tribute to Kings, a cross-country tour that will feature the Bay Area trio playing Rush’s classic 1977 album A Farewell to Kings in its entirety, in addition to their own music. The ‘Tribute to Kings’ tour will be just as it is implied, a respectful and loving tribute to three spectacular musicians, songwriters, legends and friends.
