On a rainy and wind swept night in Toronto at the Horseshoe Tavern, PEI’s very own Whitney Rose swept into town and put on an exuberant show last night.
Rose covered most of her repertoire and played a few covers ranging from Elvis to Dolly Parton to Leslie Gore. Her producer Raul Malo from the Mavericks made a guest appearance dueting with Whitney on a very heartfelt “Be My Baby”.
This was the album release party for her newly released record ‘Heartbreaker of the Year’ which was recorded in just four days in Toronto. It’s an album defiantly rooted in the classic country sound while still sounding very fresh. It features her own band and many contributions from The Mavericks.
Whitney’s set lasted roughly 90 minutes which thrilled the mostly packed bar which came to hear her. Whitney Rose is a talented performer and songwriter with a very bright career ahead of her.
In case you missed her performance she will be at the Phoenix on Friday April 24th opening for The Mavericks. After that she heads out on a Canadian tour in support of the album.
