Today’s A Tee A Day spotlight falls on a band we just met a few weeks ago, via Instagram — gotta love finding new music on social media! The Celebration Army call Toronto Ontario home at present, and the band is comprised of crispy beats from drummer Troy Larabie (drummers first haha!), Leandro Motta on funky bass, Nelson Sobral on artful unpretentious guitar, and stunning vocals by Oliver Pigott. (and I don’t often say stunning so I truly mean it).
This band is tight.. polished without being perfect and boring. Their bio reads:
Ever wonder where the groove went? It enlisted in The Celebration Army. All of it. The Celebration Army’s music strongly harkens to the golden ages of classic rock and R n B (and even to a raw, dirty sort of funk that people tend to keep a naughty secret)
And it’s perfect, and true. This is the sort of tune-age that you find yourself grooving to even before you know any of the words, even before you realize your body is swaying in the seat and your toe is keeping beat on its own accord.
The guys have shows coming up – Guelph Nov 20, Toronto Nov 24, and more – check their website for all tour dates (come west young men!!)
