Vernon, BC is host to yet another year of Sports combined with a killer lineup of bands and artists for 2013. Funtastic, running since 1985, hosts a World Class event – Canada’s largest Slo-Pitch Tournament and Music Fest and this year is their best lineup yet.
Friday night boasts Canadian 80’s Rockers, Honeymoon Suite, as well as locals Redfish, The Young ‘Uns and The Dirt. Saturday sees 70’s British Glam Rockers, Sweet take stage (Ballroom Blitz, Fox on the Run), along with Heart Tribute band, Barracuda, and Mace, the first band to play Funtastic 29 yrs ago! Mace, an 11 piece band with horn section will also be featured Saturday night and should be amazing to watch!
Sunday night crosses over into Country with the return of CCMA Award winner Aaron Pritchett (Hold my Beer, Lets Get Rowdy), and we just know he’ll be singing his newest song, Suntan City! (Aaron first performed at Funtastic in 2009, the first year they introduced Country to the festival lineup, and our first year covering music in the Okanagan!). Sunday also sees locals Cod Gone Wild, The Goods and Julian Austin. Country rock never sounded so good.
Fireworks are happening Monday, which is also Canada Day. Look for lights in the sky around 10:15 followed by the heavyweights of Rock, Theory of a Deadman, and Big Wreck! (Big Wreck just recently warmed up the crowd for Motley Crue in Penticton and blew us away).
With over 6000 people in attendance, and BC’s biggest beer garden, all on the DND (Department of National Defence) property just on the outskirts of Vernon (and a mere 4 minutes to the nearest Starbucks), this weekend should prove to be highly memorable. We can’t wait!
