Rat Silo: Unfortunately… Post Pandemic Punk we all need

Rat Silo have always stayed true to themselves with the music they write and perform and their 5th studio album, Unfortunately… is true to form.

Written during the ’20 – ’21 pandemic during intermittent band rehearsals, the album features frontman Jim Newton’s acerbic biting wit of ‘tell it like it is’ on such songs as Head on a Stick (“At the trial of the century it all went down, You was dressed up in a suit but, underneath it still a clown” Trump?) You Have to Believe it (“The olden days seem so misty when you hide all the the things that bring you down “), and others.

The band too is in fine form; Rat Silo always has a raw, real sound; never over-polished. From the frenetic pace of The World is Going to End Tomorrow, to the ‘Viking march‘ feel of Fire Below, and the Punk rock sea shanty The Sailing Song, the band has served up another album with their own distinctive sound and commentary. I especially like the drums in How Does it Feel.

Unfortunately… is available on CD via the band’s website HERE, and can be streamed on Spotify and the usual places. (go for the CD! its got Rat Silo’s usual cool artwork both on album cover and disc)

Rat Silo’s Unfortunately… was recorded at Hipposonic Studios in Vancouver, by Dave “Rave” Ogilvie; mixed by Anthony ‘Vu’ Valcic at his studio in Halfmoon Bay, BC.
