The Standstills are about to release their latest studio offering “Badlands”, and if lead
single “Wild” is any indication, rock fans should be happy about the state of music
coming from Canada.

From their website: “It’s a mixed bag of sexy psychedelic, guitar driven, outlaw rock and
roll” lead singer and guitarist Jonny Fox declares. Drummer and singer Renee Couture
defines the record as “If Clint Eastwood had a sound”.

Not sure if that includes whistling in a spaghetti-western kind of style and squinting at
each other…

Having opened for a solid variety of hard rock acts, including Seether and Eagles of
Death Metal, it seems the duo should be on the brink of taking it to the next level.
Currently opening for fellow Canuck Sebastian Bach on his North American tour, it
should only help to get their sound in front of a seasoned audience. In a sea of what
seems like formulaic offerings, The Standstills definitely stand out.
