From the organizers of the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues fest:

We’ll be celebrating world-class music together a little earlier next summer.

After a difficult summer and the unprecedented challenges caused by Canada’s worst wildfire season on record, the Salmon Arm Folk Music Society is excited to bump the dates of the ROOTSandBLUES festival to July 26-28, 2024.

“These new dates help ensure ROOTSandBLUES remains a vibrant and sustainable festival that continues to showcase the beautiful Shuswap and enhance the quality of life for residents and the business community,” says Kevin Tobin, artistic director.

Now in its 32nd year, the SAFMS—the non-profit behind the ROOTSandBLUES festival—hopes the change in dates will help protect the festival from smoke and wildfire-related concerns that ultimately led to the costly and last-minute cancellation of the festival this summer.

“The Salmon Arm Folk Music Society has faced its fair share of financial bumps and threats from the COVID pandemic and the recent fires in the Shuswap,” says David Gonella, executive director. “At every turn, we’ve been eager to find a positive solution. Changing dates isn’t a band-aid fix but a chance to be better prepared.”

Early-bird passes to the 32nd annual ROOTSandBLUES festival, now held the last weekend in July, will go on sale Dec. 5.
