The Glorious Sons have been making waves since they first hit the Canadian music scene – and there’s no end in sight. They just released their brand new album, A War on Everything, and along with some really great tunes, comes this incredible video for the title track.

In a world of sappy lyric videos done on shoe string budgets, with images that have very little to do with the lyrical subject matter – this video is a throwback to the MTV era where band’s actually said something with the video content.

The video follows a girl and guy (barefoot and longhaired like Emmons) who together are weathering a storm that becomes increasingly harsh. Each time the girl needs to stop and rest, the guy takes her hand, encouraging her to continue. The storm becomes violent and he struggles to protect her from it… until, just as the storm hits its worst (matching the tempo of the music perfectly), she can go no further and lies down to accept defeat.

In that instant, the lyrics and video focus in on his realization of what life could be with her, but won’t be – he can no longer protect her from the storm (“it’s raining, raining life“) as she IS the storm. He is forced to make a decision just as singer Brett Emmons sings, “We can’t stay here any longer,”  and heads out of the storm and into the sunshine, to look back on her from a distance torn between staying or leaving – protecting her, or self preservation.

It’s an incredibly powerful video and you can feel yourself sucked into the emotional turmoil of these two people.. check it out for yourself below:

As we think it’s important to credit all artists, here’s the info on the actual creation of the video:
