The Blue Stones ‘Shakin off the Rust’ video release review

Rock duo The Blue Stones, (Tarek Jafar and Justin Tessier) , have recently released the the
first official video from their upcoming sophomore album release sometime this year. The single
is fun, hard-driving and sounds very polished for such a new band.

From their press release: “There were times along the way where I felt I wasn’t good
enough, “ explains Jafar, “or that I didn’t deserve any happiness or success. This song is
about battling those thoughts in your head that make you doubt yourself, and coming
through with the confidence to make something great.”

The video itself opens with the boys getting out of bed, then strapping on VR headsets to
perform a virtual concert. Fans then join in and at one point the avatars get a little weird.
While their sound may be reminiscent of duos such as the Black Keys et al, the riffs and
lyrics are original. Head bopping, all around dance fun it’s not hard to see why they have
already been openers for The Glorious Sons and Sam Roberts. They have a solid and
fervent fan base in their home province of Ontario; hopefully with a few more tours out
west that will grow.

If this release is any indication of the tracks to come, this is an album to look forward to.
In the meantime, stick them in your playlist. A million views on each of their videos so far
can’t be wrong.
