Glorious Sons declare a War on Everything -album review

The Glorious Sons much anticipated new album, A War on Everything dropped today, on singer/frontman Brett Emmons‘ birthday no less and what a gift it is.

In typical The Glorious Sons fashion, the overall album is loud, in your face rock and roll (‘Panic Attack‘, ‘A Funny Thing Happened’) interspersed with a few softer songs to break up the noise (‘A War on Everything’, ‘The Laws of Love and War’). The lyrics are hooky anthems (‘Kingdom in my Heart’) but also honest questionings of life and love and relationships (‘I’m on Your Side’, ‘Pink Motel’). And like most GS albums, this will take a few listenings to allow you to choose your favorite songs – which might change over time, and after seeing a few songs performed live (‘The Ongoing Speculation into the Death of Rock and Roll’, ‘Kick Them Wicked Things’).

Emmon’s vocals are crisp, sharp and dead on throughout and this is most apparent on the louder more rocking songs. The rest of the band has picked it up a notch since the last album too – this band has progressed by leaps and bounds in a few short years.

Anyone who was at last weekend’s Sonic Field Day had the chance to hear a good chunk of the new songs live – and with The Glorious Sons crazy full tour schedule, it won’t be long before everyone else gets to hear them as well. In mean time.. enjoy a free (limited time?) listen at The Glorious Sons official Youtube channel, and pick the album up on usual Spotify, Apple Music etc. For details on tours etc, check out the band at their Website and socials.

“Good things happen when you’re open and you’re excited and happy. There’s something to be said for the energy you put out being returned to you.” Brett Emmons
